Detailed information

Product detailed description

This yellow uranium glass vase was produced in Bohemia from original period molds created by H. Hoffmann around 1930, during the height of the Art Deco movement. It represents a richly sculptural interpretation of classical and mythological themes characteristic of early 20th century European decorative glass.

The surface is encircled by six nude figures intertwined with grape clusters and vine foliage, forming a continuous narrative of harvest and abundance. Each figure is rendered in a distinct pose, creating movement and visual rhythm around the circumference of the vase. The flowing bodies, organic vine motifs, and layered relief demonstrate strong French Art Deco influence. Hoffmann’s sculptural treatment of the human form shows clear parallels to the work of René Lalique, particularly in the fusion of sensual modeling and ornamental naturalism, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.

Made of yellow uranium glass, commonly referred to as vaseline glass, the vase exhibits vivid green fluorescence under UV light, confirming its uranium glass composition. The complexity of the six-figure relief and the depth of carving give the piece a monumental sculptural presence and exceptional collector appeal.
