Product detailed description
This Art Deco Girl in the Wind hood ornament was produced in Bohemia from original period molds designed by H. Hoffmann around 1930. It represents the era when sculptural hood ornaments served as expressive automotive mascots, symbolizing speed, movement, and modern elegance.
The stylized female figure captured in forward motion with flowing hair reflects strong French Art Deco influence, which shaped European automotive ornament design in the early 20th century. This Girl in the Wind motif belongs to the same design tradition as Spirit of the Wind–style automotive mascots, emphasizing aerodynamics, progress, and visual motion. Hoffmann’s approach shows inspiration drawn from René Lalique, particularly in the smooth modeling, dynamic lines, and balanced proportions, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.
Made of yellow uranium glass, the ornament is mounted on a black glass base, which enhances the sculptural form and provides stable display contrast. Originally intended as a car hood ornament, today it is highly sought after as a collectible Art Deco automotive mascot and decorative display piece.
