Product detailed description

This Art Deco Girl in the Wind hood ornament (car mascot) was produced in Bohemia from original period molds designed by H. Hoffmann around 1930. It represents the interwar period when sculptural hood ornaments functioned not only as automotive mascots but also as expressive works of decorative art.

The sculptural female figure is modeled leaning forward into the wind, with flowing hair and elongated lines that emphasize movement, aerodynamic form, and visual rhythm. The design reflects strong French Art Deco influence characteristic of early 20th-century automotive ornamentation. Hoffmann’s sculptural approach shows inspiration drawn from René Lalique, particularly in the fluid contours, smooth surface treatment, and elegant balance, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.

Made of blue uranium glass, the surface features a satin matte finish and glows green under ultraviolet light, confirming its uranium glass composition. This example is mounted on a black glass base, which enhances contrast, stability, and overall presentation. Originally intended as a car hood ornament, today the Girl in the Wind model is highly sought after as a collectible Art Deco automotive mascot and decorative display piece.
