Product detailed description
This yellow uranium glass vase on pedestal was produced in Bohemia from original period molds created by H. Hoffmann around 1930, during the height of the Art Deco movement. The integrated pedestal base enhances its architectural presence, elevating the sculptural composition both literally and visually.
The relief decoration features stylized nymph figures arranged in a flowing composition around the body of the vase. Their elongated forms and rhythmic drapery create movement and balance, demonstrating strong French Art Deco influence. Hoffmann’s treatment of the human form shows parallels to the work of René Lalique, particularly in the harmonious fusion of classical sensuality and ornamental structure, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.
Made of yellow uranium glass, commonly referred to as vaseline glass, the vase exhibits vivid green fluorescence under UV light, clearly visible under blacklight and confirming its uranium glass composition. The raised pedestal amplifies the vertical rhythm of the design, giving the piece a refined and monumental character within an Art Deco collection.
