Product detailed description
This yellow uranium glass vase was produced in Bohemia from original period molds created by H. Hoffmann around 1930, during the height of the Art Deco movement. It reflects the sculptural richness and classical inspiration that defined European decorative glass of the early 20th century.
The relief decoration features Bacchantes — mythological female followers of Dionysus — arranged in a dynamic and flowing composition around the body of the vase. Comparable figural compositions were explored by René Lalique in larger-scale glass works during the same period, and Hoffmann’s treatment of the human form shows clear stylistic parallels, particularly in the fusion of classical sensuality and ornamental relief, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.
Made of yellow uranium glass, commonly referred to as vaseline glass, the vase exhibits vivid green fluorescence under UV light, confirming its uranium glass composition. The depth of the figural relief enhances its sculptural presence, making it a highly desirable piece for collectors of Art Deco and Bohemian uranium glass.
