Detailed information

Product detailed description

This yellow uranium glass tall vase was produced in Bohemia from original period molds created by H. Hoffmann around 1930, during the height of the Art Deco movement. Its elongated proportions emphasize verticality and monumentality, enhancing the sculptural impact of the design.

The relief decoration features Bacchantes — mythological female followers of Dionysus — arranged in a flowing composition around the body of the vase. Their elongated forms and rhythmic drapery create movement and depth, demonstrating strong French Art Deco influence. Hoffmann’s sculptural treatment of the human figure shows parallels to the work of René Lalique, particularly in the balance between classical sensuality and structured ornamental relief, while remaining distinctly Bohemian in execution.

Made of yellow uranium glass, commonly referred to as vaseline glass, the vase exhibits vivid green fluorescence under UV light, confirming its uranium glass composition. The taller form enhances the vertical rhythm of the figures, giving the piece a commanding presence within any serious Art Deco collection.
