Detailed information

Product detailed description

This hood ornament was produced in Bohemia from original period molds created by H. Hoffmann around 1930. This sculptural Speed Girl hood ornament represents the Art Deco period, when automobile mascots emphasized motion, speed, and modernity. The streamlined female figure with flowing lines conveys a strong sense of forward movement and reflects the aerodynamic aesthetics that influenced automotive design during the interwar years.

The Speed Girl motif belongs to the tradition of dynamic Art Deco car mascots shaped by French sculptural design, particularly the work of René Lalique. Hoffmann’s interpretation highlights smooth modeling, balanced proportions, and expressive movement, while remaining firmly rooted in Bohemian glassmaking tradition.

Made of malachite glass, this example displays the characteristic opaque appearance associated with this material. Today it is highly sought after by collectors as a sculptural Art Deco car mascot and a distinctive example of Bohemian decorative glass.
