Detailed information

Product detailed description

This uranium vaseline glass Art Deco fish figural bowl was crafted in Bohemia from original antique molds used during the 1930–1939 period, following sculptural design principles associated with H. Hoffmann. The piece depicts a stylized fish lying on its side, with the interior bowl formed along the natural curve of the fish’s back. The head features pronounced Deco modeling with a rounded eye, defined gill lines, and simplified contours, while the body displays textured scales and a sweeping tail fin.

The sculptural treatment shows clear influence of René Lalique, especially in the softly frosted surface, organic line flow, and the blend of naturalistic detail with geometric Deco abstraction. This Lalique-style character gives the bowl an elevated artistic presence, balancing functional form with expressive sculpture.

Made from UV-reactive uranium vaseline glass, the bowl produces a vivid neon-green glow under black light, highlighting the relief work on the scales, fins, and streamlined body. Its rare fish form, strong UV fluorescence, and refined 1930s Bohemian craftsmanship make it an exceptional centerpiece for advanced uranium glass and Art Deco figural collections.
